I. Determiners là gì?

Determiners là từ đứng trước danh từ để xác định hoặc giới hạn danh từ đó.

Chúng trả lời các câu hỏi như:
Danh từ nào? Bao nhiêu? Cái này hay cái kia?

Ví dụ:
This book is interesting.
Each student has a locker.
Neither answer is correct.

II. Demonstratives (Chỉ định từ)

1. 1. This / These

This + danh từ số ít (gần người nói)
These + danh từ số nhiều (gần người nói)

This book is mine.
These students are from Hanoi.

1. 2. That / Those

That + danh từ số ít (xa người nói)
Those + danh từ số nhiều (xa người nói)

That house is very old.
Those mountains look beautiful.

III. Each vs Every

Cả hai đều nghĩa là “mỗi”, nhưng dùng khác nhau.

1. 1. Each

Nhấn mạnh từng cá thể riêng lẻ.
Thường dùng khi số lượng nhỏ hoặc xác định.

Each student has a book.
Each of the students has a book.

Lưu ý:
Each đi với động từ số ít.

1. 2. Every

Nhấn mạnh toàn bộ nhóm.
Thường dùng khi nói chung chung.

Every student must wear a uniform.
Every day is a new opportunity.

So sánh:

Each focuses on individuals.
Every focuses on the group as a whole.

IV. Either vs Neither

Dùng khi nói về 2 đối tượng.

1. 1. Either

Either + danh từ số ít → một trong hai

Either answer is acceptable.
You can sit on either side.

Either of + plural noun → vẫn chia động từ số ít

Either of the answers is correct.

1. 2. Neither

Neither + danh từ số ít → không cái nào trong hai

Neither option is good.
Neither student passed the test.

Neither of + plural noun → động từ số ít

Neither of them is ready.

V. Some – Any (bổ sung hệ thống Determiners)

Some dùng trong câu khẳng định.
I have some money.

Any dùng trong câu phủ định và nghi vấn.
Do you have any questions?
I don’t have any money.

VI. All – Both – Half

All + plural noun / uncountable noun
All students are here.
All the water is gone.

Both + plural noun
Both students passed.

Half + noun
Half the class is absent.

Neither of them is ready.

Sai:
These book is interesting.
Đúng:
This book is interesting.
