Cấu trúc

1. 1. Because + S + V
      → Sau because phải là một mệnh đề hoàn chỉnh (có Subject + Verb).

   2. Because of + N / N phrase / V-ing
      → Sau because of phải là danh từ hoặc cụm danh từ.

   3. Có thể dùng because of thay cho on account of và due to (và ngược lại).
      → Tuy nhiên thường dùng due to sau động từ to be.

   4. As a result of + N / N phrase
      → Dùng để nhấn mạnh hậu quả của hành động/sự việc.

   5. Có thể đưa mệnh đề nguyên nhân lên đầu câu:
      → Because of + N, S + V.

Ví dụ

Jan was worried because it had started to rain.
Jan was worried because of the rain.

We arrived late because there was a traffic jam.
We arrived late because of a traffic jam.

The accident happened because of the heavy rain.
The accident happened because it rained heavily.

Because of the heavy rain, the accident happened.
Because it rained heavily, the accident happened.

He was blinded because of a terrible accident.
He was blinded because he had a terrible accident.

Because of a terrible accident, he was blinded.
Because he had a terrible accident, he was blinded.

We have cancelled the party because of the rain.
We have cancelled the party because it is raining.

Lưu ý

❗ Không dùng: Because of it rained. (sai vì sau because of không được dùng mệnh đề).

❗ Không dùng: Because the rain. (sai vì sau because phải có S + V).

Khi dùng due to, thường đặt sau động từ to be:

The delay was due to/because of bad weather.
